CVE and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Avisar, Inc. win prestigious Telly Award
WASHINGTON – The Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) received top honors at the 27th Annual Telly Awards competition earlier this year in New York for its video “Count on Me”.
The video, which highlights the center’s ability to help veterans expand their businesses in the federal marketplace, won the prestigious Silver Telly – the competition’s highest award.
“It’s an honor to receive this award on behalf of CVE and Avisar, Inc., who developed the video to help us reach out to Veteran-Owned and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses,” said Scott Denniston, Director of Center for Veterans Enterprise. “It’s also and excellent example of the value of veteran-owned businesses.”
Avisar, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 8(a) certification that provides a wide range of services to government agencies.
“Count on Me” was one of 13,379 entries from 50 states and five 5 continents entered into the contest this year. The award-winning video explains the benefits of veterans registering their business on the VetBiz.gov Vendor Information Pages (VIP) and how to contact CVE for assistance. Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. The 27th Annual Telly Awards also included new categories to honor video and commercials created specifically for the Web. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
This year's winners include companies, agencies and organizations of all sizes, from large multinational media companies to small ad agencies and local production houses. A sample of winners includes: Ames Scullin O'Haire, AOL/Nuance Creative, Armstrong, Bass Pro Shops Video Productions, BBDO New York, BET Jazz, Chernoff Newman, CNN, Comedy Central, DDB Los Angeles, Devito/Verdi, Disneyland Resort, FX Networks, GEICO, GMMB, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, Jay Advertising, Jones Advertising Inc., Lopez Negrete Communications, M&C Saatchi New York, Marshall Field's, Microsoft, MSNBC, NBA Entertainment, NBC Universal Global Network, Nickelodeon, Nike, QVC, San Francisco 49ers, Starz Entertainment Group, Storandt Pann Margolis, The Biography Channel, The History Channel, and The Outdoor Channel.
A prestigious judging panel of 27 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly, the top honor, upholds the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. Judges evaluate entries to recognize distinction in creative work - entries do not compete against each other - rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as winners of a Silver Telly, the highest honor.
"I am honored to have overseen this year's judging and privileged to review such diverse and incredible work,” said chairman of the judging panel, Richard Friley, who is the Emmy and Telly Award winning President of Friley Productions. “It is a remarkable achievement for all of the winners to be recognized from such an outstanding pool of entries."
